OEE vs OEM Auto Glass
When your vehicle was originally manufactured, it was fitted with automotive glass that meets a certain set of specifications, set by the vehicle’s manufacturer themselves. Typically, a vehicle manufacturer has 2 or 3 or more glass suppliers. These suppliers are known as Original Equipment Manufacturers.
OEM glass is the closest auto glass you can get to the original Windscreen that came with your car when it was brand new. OEM windscreens are stamped with the Vehicle manufacturers logo, the glass brand logo as a show of quality.
What is OEE glass, then?
These are Original Equipment Equivalent (OEE) automotive glass, often manufactured by the same OEM supplier. This glass is also known as “aftermarket glass,” or “ARG”. This OEE glass is equally as good in safety, quality and fit and as it complies with the original vehicle manufactures specs, the only difference being these screens do not feature the vehicles manufacturer’s logo as these are registered trademarks and therefore may not be used.

- OEE glass is infinitely cheaper
- It is a highly safe option for Windscreen replacement, as these manufacturers comply with the highest international safety and standards which are closely audited.
- It’s much easier to find OEE glass available compared to OEM glass, which in most instances must be ordered, often taking weeks to arrive.
- Many insurers favour OEE glass for replacements due to its costs, quality, safety. fit and availability.
- A significant lower impact on the client’s claims history, meaning a lower annual increase
In most cases, OEE is the be the best choice for your windscreen replacement. This is because it has the same quality standards as with an OEM glass, but it will usually cost less and is more readily available.
