What is the difference between ‘Shatterprufe®’ and ‘Shatterproof’?
This is a question we tend to get often! ‘Shatterprufe®’ is a trademark and ‘shatterproof’ is a safety characteristic that refers to the construction and physical properties of the product / windscreen. Shatterproof consists of 2 or more pieces of glass laminated together using a vinyl (PVB) interlayer. This prevents the glass from shattering into splinters when impacted. All windscreens legally sold in South Africa are shatterproof and comply with SABS safety standards.
